from the series Introducing Classical Music Through Stories by Ann Bryant.
These books are designed to integrate music, art and literacy for ages 6-10 with new stories that are told to a classical piece of music. As a music resource, the stories each have some relationship to the style of the music and the page turns are indicated by a CD counter number on the page (e.g. 3:42). The stories are flexibly designed to allow time for the children to imaginatively listen to the music. After listening, you could talk about contrasts in the music, feelings evoked, and even let the class evolve their own story or poetry.
William, The Crack Shot Kid Ever since the apple tree was killed by lightning, things have been going wrong for the neighborhood. William dreams up a daring plan to bring everyone together again. Read to the descriptive music of The William Tell Overture by Rossini.
