In Peru, decorated gourds predate pottery. After the gourd is dried, washed and sanded, the artisans carve designs with a simple sharp knife, or 'bruin'.

Sections of the surface are burned with a heated piece of eucalyptus wood, about the size of a pencil, to create decorative browns and black.

Comes with scraper and story card with playing tips. 10"
