Project these interactive lessons to provide your students opportunities to improvise and compose. Each begins with a song, poem, story, or musical work. Students are invited to improvise both individually and as a group using voices, recorders, xylophones, or percussion. They then progress to a rubric-based compostion project.
It may sound intimidating, but these well-designed lessons make it work and kids begin to think creatively, explore artistry as they refine what they have done, and refine decision-making skills along the way. AND, they make music! Gr. 2-5.
May be used alone or as a follow-up to Everyday Improvisation (7749).
